Don Arc Beach Escapade

06 May
SUMMER! SUMMER! SUMMER!

Sarah and Ezekiel at Don Arc Beach

Baby Ezekiel ran towards the seashore ready to swim without mom and dad

Mom, Can I pick up those little seashell?

I want to ride a boat dad!

It’s so hot! As you hear those words, maybe your thinking about fire that flared up. But that’s not exactly what I mean because I am pertaining to the weather. Yes it is, because summer has come again.

Since it’s summer, allow me to set my time machine back to December 29, 2009 and see every special moments that were happening under the heat of the sun.

It was Tuesday, 6 o’clock in the morning  when a beep from my phone disturbed me from a deep sleep. I supposed to ignore it and wished to fall back to sleep. Fortunately, there’s something in my mind that motivated me to pick it up. As I looked over my  phone, a text message appeared saying I have one message received. The message came from Sarah reminding me about our outing in the beach. And so, I rushed down to the bathroom and took a bath. At 9 o’clock in the morning, I went to Sarah’s house and prepared all the thing to be brought to the beach. Our kiddo seems so excited. He got his shoes and his life jacket ready to go!

It was a 45 minutes travel until we arrived to our destination. A huge billboard rendered a warmth welcome upon our arrival saying “WELCOME TO DON ARC BEACH, INITAO MISAMIS ORIENTAL”. Finally, we were steps closer to the entrance gate. From  a distance, we can see a vast number of people shouting, running and making sand castles. The mixture of the sun, glowing white sand and the blue sea really fascinated our eyes. Eventually, we could say that this would be a great, great day for the three of us. Yes, Just the three of us. We have rented a cottage and ate our lunch. Our kiddo was really excited. He grabbed his life jacket and ran heading to the seashore, as if he knows how to swim. We ran towards him and got his back. After lunch, we accompanied our kiddo in swimming. The water was so cold and perfectly blended with the heat from the sun. We made sandcastles and picked up some seashells. We also took photos as a remembrance.  We really made a lot of fun in the beach and indeed, Sarah asked me to set an outing again in some other time. At 4 o’clock in the afternoon, we went back home bringing another memories, memories that are worth remembering. This day, we made a HISTORY!

Extraordinary Measures

03 May
Extraordinary Measures is a 2010 drama film starring Brendan FraserHarrison Ford, and Keri Russell. It is distributed by CBS Films and was released on January 22, 2010. It is about parents who form a biotechnology company to develop a drug to save the lives of their children, who have a life-threatening disease. The film is based on the true story of John and Aileen Crowley, whose children had Pompe’s disease

What is a Pompe’s Disease?

Glycogen storage disease type II (also called Pompe’s disease or acid maltase deficiency) is a disease that damages muscle and nerve cells throughout the body. It is caused by an accumulation of glycogen in the cell.
Normally, the cell stores energy in the form of glycogen, and an enzyme (acid alpha-glucosidase) converts glycogen to the sugar glucose. In this disease, that enzyme is deficient.
The build-up of glycogen causes progressive muscle weakness (myopathy) throughout the body and affects various body tissues, particularly in the heartskeletal musclesliver and nervous system.
Glycogen storage disease type II is an inherited disease, and an autosomal recessive metabolic disorder in the family of lysosomal storage diseases. It is the only glycogen storage disease with a defect in lysosomal metabolism. It was the first glycogen storage disease to be identified, in 1932.

have already watched the movie and I found the story so nice and interesting. It contains dramatic scenes that will surely touch your hearts and bring your eyes in tears. For me, it is one of the best movie this year that is worth watching. See the official trailer below.

LOCAL NEWS

26 Apr

MANILA, Philippines – A huge fire that swept through a shantytown outside the Philippine capital has killed one resident, destroyed about 600 houses and left more than 10,000 people homeless.

Metropolitan Manila Fire Marshal Pablito Cordeta says about 200 firetrucks battled Sunday’s fire, which also injured five people, including three firefighters. It spread rapidly in the slum in Quezon city because of strong winds and the scorching summer heat.

Firefighters struggled to penetrate alleys, which were clogged by people trying to save their belongings. Residents wept as they watched their burning houses.

A weeping resident, Glen Sardon, said “We failed to save anything except our clothes.”

Mom, Dad, Kiddo..

24 Apr

                                                SUNSET

It was a very boring afternoon when Sarah and I decided to go to the bridge together with our kiddo to watch the sun as it goes down to the west. The bridge was walking distant away from our house. We brought the camera to capture every moment that passes through. When we are about to go, our kiddo requested me to carry him. Lazy boy! As I looked upon my watch, I noticed that it was 15 minutes more to 6pm. Finally, we came to our destination but just like what I’d thought, we missed the sunset! There are several people who were in the bridge talking and chatting with each other. Instead of going back home, we were utilizing and enjoying our time capturing some images as the twilight slowly occurred. After an hour, we went back home bringing new memories that will always be cherished.

Apparently , we cannot turn back time even just for an hour or two just to witness the sun as it goes down. There are different ways to enjoy. It’s not about the sunset or any but it’s about how you will enjoy the moment together with your loved ones even with the absence of spectacular things and phenomenon.

AVATAR

01 Feb
BOX OFFICE HIT
LOS ANGELES, Jan 26 (Reuters) “AVATAR”a James Cameron film has surpassed “Titanic” as the highest-grossing movie worldwide it is expected to rack up a slew of Oscar nominations.
Gregg Brilliant, a spokesman for the News Corp-owned studio 20th Century Fox, said on Tuesday the worldwide box office total for “Avatar” stands at $1.859 billion, beating the $1.843 billion racked up by Cameron’s romantic drama “TITANIC” 1997-1998.
“Avatar” broke the record in a little over six weeks.
More than five years in the making, it was reportedly one of the most expensive films with a budget of at least $300 million, due partly to its high-tech special effects and the creation of a new language used by the extra-terrestrial Na’vi race.

Eh Bien! This movie deserves to be on top! Actually, I already watched it several times and indeed, it gave me the thrill causing my veins to quiver. Every scene in this movie was an eye catching motion that mesmerized my eyes. The beauty of the peculiar world called Pandora that serves as the setting of the story, the magical forest with its strange and glowing species, the dramatic battle of the blue aliens called the Na’vi and the Humans, the exhilarating love of the main characters JAKE SULLY and NEYTIRI and the promising yet simple phrase of the couple “I SEE YOU”, making the movie indisputably the BEST!

Haiti Massive Earthquake

23 Jan

THE CRY OF HAITI

On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake with a catastrophic magnitude of  7.0 M at a depth of 13 km (8.1 miles) stricken  one of the Caribbean country, Haiti. According to International Red Cross, there were estimated three million people being affected on the said calamity. Many notable landmark buildings were significantly damaged or destroyed, including the Presidential Palace (see the second photo). According to the news, among those killed were the Archbishop of Port-Au-Prince, and some of the nobles. The headquarters of the United Nations Stabilization Mission In Haiti (MINUSTAH), located in the capital, collapsed, killing many, including the Mission’s Chief. Many  countries responded to appeals for humanitarian aid.
I can’t really imagine how this thing happened in just a whiz. But  perhaps in His own way, God wants us to be aware and prepare for His  very soon coming or maybe He noticed that people were getting drawn with sins that’s why great trials were given to test our faith in God. For now, all we can do is to pray, for the victims of Haiti massive earthquake, and for the people who offered there help, may the Lord be with us!
